African wax fabric known for it’s myriad of stunningly striking patterns and palettes has a deep history dated as far back as the 19^th century during the colonial reign of the Dutch in Indonesia. With it’s bold bright colours, it wasn’t popular until West African soldiers serving under the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army took it back home to African as gifts to their families. It soon became a symbol of African attires after the influx of the fabric due to it’s initial success.
